dakotajw: first, do you want to join our Midnight Inventory gang? We are going to do an inventory at an orchard that sunshine knows about that has oodles of fruit that will be ready for picking soon. sunshine, our trusty scout, said she also has some fruit trees at her farm, so we will really make a haul. You can be in charge of vicky to see that she doesn't eat the baklava that she will bake to bribe the sheriff. Curtis will drive the getaway pickup truck, Dawn is in charge of the Cell Phone to alert vicky in case we need the bribe, I create a diversion, and we will all pick fruit. then party at sunshine's farm. hahahaha
I have Agnes Borpa(Boh'-pah) as Henry's wife( he married her at sisseton,SD in 1914)), and two of his daughters, Lucinda and margaret. I will do a search for Henry and see what I can find.
Henry E flute with wife Louie or Lois? in 1910 goodwill, roberts,SD and following children: maggie, willie, Susan,Samuel, jackson, and annie(the youngest). 1920 US Census has him with 2nd wife Agnes t. and children: Fanny ,Samuel, susie, lucinda, Rebecca, and Homer.

Hmmmm, on a book page above, it states that John Flute's parents were Cotankainape and Siyowahdewin. If this is the same John Flute you are looking for ( I am always cautious, as we often see the same name used for generations) then Jonah Flute's name was Cotankainape. Where was Henry Flute located when he had his family so we know where to look? Hermin1, take it awayyyyyyyyyyyy! In Sisseton S.D. Thanks

I see we have a problem with the family name of Flute. Yazopi or Cotankainape. Which is correct or are these two different men? Later, Louie

Louie: They are two different persons. the latter was the Indian name for Jonah Flute, father of Rev. John flute and his brother Joseph flute. Could Yazopi be another spelling for Yajopi?

Both names are connected to playing or about a wind instrument.
Yazopi (ya = mouth; zo = whistle; pi = plural) = flute or whistle player. Zo - jo (alternate spelling, zo is more correct).
Cotankainape [this is a tough one] Cotanka = reed [they made whistles out of reeds] I= in, at, on; nape = hand) Whistle in the hand? Later, Louie

Hermin or Vicky, Do either of you have information on Zachary Flute. I know there must be a couple of them. I think I am looking for the one that m. Elizabeth Columbus Red Wing after her husband passed away? I also know there was one that was accused of murder in 1906, so I don't think it's him. Thanks for any help. Wanbliho

I just have the Sisseton one. His Indian name was Tucanoicagewaste. He received a SW land allotment in 1887 #103. He was 35 YO. There was also a Rufus with him who received an allotment at age 3, #104. On the Elrod in 1891 he is listed aged 39 with his wife Julia who was 17. They had 2 children; Joseph who was 2 and Tera, a daughter, 3 mo. old. Does this sound like your Zachary?
