i searched prairie du chien, and the records for Mackinac for any mention of a Frenier and got zilch. Charles Jacques Freniere was born @1760. try the Metis History website, which has at least 2 mentions of Charles Jacques: that he married winona dau. of Yankton chief "He who fears Nothing." then a mention that he was asked to testify re. some trading problems on the upper Missippippi.Like an idiot I forgot to write the dates down.so you'll have to search for them. i would recommend you buy "Old Betsey" by Diedrich also. Winona ,Ellen and mary were sisters according the Old Betsy Family Genealogy by diedrich in "Old Betsey". I did go the genealogy .com genforum on the la freniers /frenier,using my sister-in-laws username-christine kounas. I did get some useful clues from a descendent of the Freniers antaya's. type LaFreniere Family Genealogy forum into google.Hopefully you will find the genforum website link. i even scoured the free records databases for Canada's GenWeb and got nowhere. Hopstismiley won't get on the LD list as an intevenor using daughters of Chief He who Fears nothing or the Faribaults. she's got links via her Frenier ancestors, who were scouts.

utzer: I am glad you mentioned charles Jacques because, I haven't looked at that file in at least 2 years. i have a total of 5 files onthe Frenier. Two include the duMarces with whom one of Charles jacques's grgr. grandsons married.

Jed, you could spend years in that section. There is a ton of good reading there. Here's that wonderful book- Lac Qui Parle, Its Missionaries, Traders and Indians by Donald Dean Parker Posted by SDSU- lib.sdstate.edu/archives/Digitized/LacQuiParle.htmlSorry kids, I just checked this link and it is no longer on their site. What a loss!!

Chief Tokocokipeshni/Penichon Thank you very much for all the new info., Hermin1. The photo from Cambell, S.D. from the 1900 (?) Census I recognize, but the image is a little blurry and I'm not able to sharpen or magnify it much. I can just log in to Ancestry.com and look at it again. There was somebody on that Census, Leland, age 30 listed as a hh member and another man. A farmhand (?). I don't know, Leland was a Booher on that Census. In another I saw William Wallace Wells and Louisa nee Booher Wells in a Census of Faribault, Minnesota with young Booher children in their home as well! I will get to that info. again as time permits and try and unravel what was going-on there. Maybe the children were taken in during family hardships or upheaval. I really don't know... but as I find out I will see to it that I relate any new info. to you. Yours in spirit, you and Theodore take care! Jed. I'm adding a link that I think you might be familiar with Hermin. oyate1.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ancestry&action=print&thread=1547
