Joseph b. may 1825/26 d. 23 Jan 1914parents were Francois laBatte and nanna Cousi
His wives were 1. genevieve (Sara Jane, or Ellen) turpin, and 2. Mary McLain(b. 1861, died July ,1923. His children:
Eli b. 1862 d. May 1922 Washington Cty.,MN Eli's mother was Genevieve Turpin.
William born Feb. 1874, died Nov. 1941 Hennepin,MN Genevieve Turpin was the mother.
Alex b. Nov. 1864, d. Sep. 1955. Mother was Genevieve Turpin. Alex wed Maria Wenberg

In particular, I am looking for any information on Louie George , Michael , John Riel aka Louie Napoleon, Louie Berger, and Lucie Labatte. All my information points to the Labatte's being married to native women and the children could possible be Metis. The are from around Honey Harbor, Victoria Harbor, Midland and Penetangueshien. I have been doing the family history and have also found a line that is related to William Solomon and this line has the same history with the men being married to native women. What I need, if possible, the band that the Labatte line could be with. I appreciate any help or information that could be given. Thanks Sheila

At St. Mary's Roman Cath. Cem. at Victoria Harbor is the grave of a Lucie LaBatt's son Wilfred Desjardins b. 1925 d.1999.
You might also try the Ontario Canada GenWeb. type it inot google and see what you can find.

I would also suggest looking for the LaBattes at the Michigan GenWeb and also the Wisconsin Genweb. reason is that prairie du Chien where a lot of the french traders came to or settled at, was once part of Michigan Territory.
i need more information on William Solomon which would help my search. there re some solomons that were living in Minnesota and were either full or mixed bloods.
