www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ndpembin/Pembina_Metis_Cemetery.pdfthis gives the history behind the Metis Cemetery near Pembina North Dakota. Update on Status of The Cemetery's future owners. www.cbc.ca/news/story/1999/06/25/25061999_cemetary.html______________________ hermin1's update to update: it appears, as you will see in the thresad re. the Return of the Red River Carts.....in this section, that the Turtle Mountain Chippewas were given control of the metis Cemetery and that they are now maintaining it. thank Goodness, at least someone is concerned about this historic burial ground. of course I also found several websites re. this cemetery, in which the Canadian Govt, chastised them for neglectiing to take care of it since a lot of Crees, and chippewas wre buried here also.

Fellow Researchers and Guests: Ifyou go to the Cemetery Section, You will find the Index to the persons buried in the Pembina Metis Cemetery,ND that I posted. I must admit , it is not in order, so you will have to look at all the imges to find whom you are seeking. It is a good thing I downloaded them and the burial records for the deceased. if you want the burial information on a deceased person, please post the name of the person(s) and I will post the information for you, or you can pay the ND Historical society 15 bucks for a copy of all the Burials in North dakota, including the Metis Cemetery at Pembina,ND
