hopstismiley and utzer: I believe I have found Charles Jacques La Freniere/Freniere's parents ,etc. I was able to access the Druin Collection, and plugged in his approximate birth date @1760 and oila! up came this tree: i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/kouklamu/charleslaFreniereFamilyTree.jpgaccording to my friend Francois laFrenier there were no persons named Charles or Jacques LaFreniere born in Canada in 1760. He said that the only Charles he knew of was the one who was born Mar. 1867 in Riviere,,Quebec,Can and his middle name was Ethier. The other Charles wasborn in 1769 and his parents gave him the middle name Jacques and the Lafrenieres of Canada lost track of him in their records. He believes that this is your Charles Jacques Lafreniere. His father Antoine La Freniere was born 1740 Muskignon,Quebec,Can and died 17 mai 1809 in LeGrand,Marshall,IA Mother was Judith Bergeron born 1745 Louiseville,Muskingnon,Quebec,Can. They were married 11 Feb. 1765 Louisvile,Quebec atthe Catholic church of St. Antoine-de-Riviere-du-Loup(Druin collection). The original records for Louisville,Quebec for years 1714-1769 in that Druin collection are in very poor condition. Its a wonder anyone could do any translations, let alone make out the writing, what with all the ink blots and tattered pages. AT last!!! My searchis done!!!I've been searching for that charles's parents for the past 5 years. Francois is the LaFreniere expert on those born in America. I also owe my thanks to Paul LaFreniere who found that contract that Charles signed in 1802 for the Northwest Society.
