Original land assignments that were given out the wording in those say:
for the exclusive use and benefit of the said Indian and his heirs, so long as said allottee or his or hers heirs occupy and use said land. If the land is abandoned it would be reassigned by the Secretary of the Interior to another Indian who was a resident of Minnesota May 20, 1886, or a legal descendant of such resident Indian. It is also declared that this certificate is not transferable, and that any sale, lease, transfer or incumberance of the said land, or any part thereof to any person or persons whomsoever, except it be to the United States, and as heirin provided, is and will continue to be utterly void and of no effect. It is further declared that said land is exempt from levy, taxation, sale or forfieture, until otherwise provided by Congress"

Lakota Technology:
After having dug to a depth of 50 feet last year, Mexican scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago
Not to be outdone by the Mexicans, in the weeks that followed, Texans scientists dug to a depth of 75 feet, and shortly after, headlines in the Houston newspapers read: "Texas archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the Mexicans."
One week later, the "Santee Sioux Tribal Council", in its Reservationwide newsletter reported the following: "After digging as deep as 90 feet in old river beds near Santee tribe District, C.E O of the Tribe, a self taught archeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing.
C.E O. has therefore concluded that 300 years ago Natives had already gone wireless."
Ayyyyyyyyeeeeeeeee.
