an added note here: white dog was the first leader of the Farmer Bamd tht was organized@ 1858. He was one of those who were convicted at RedWing Minn., and later hung on December 26, 1862 at Mankato, MInn. Tamara: the above inormation is correct re. the siblings of Scred Standing buffalo.I had made anerror at Oyate and typed that they were the siblings of Solomon Redfox. I am thinking that Mr. Garcia will be able to tell us if White dog had a son named afteer him.

Dear Louie: I don't know how to answer your question. I do know that Scred Standing Buffalo and his kin were onceliving in what became the Minesota Teritory. Here on oOyate we coveranyone and everyone who was a Dakota Sioux, Yankton, Sisseton, Wahpeton, sanrees, etc.. These two websites were set up to help people trace back their ancestry, who are descendents of the above bands or tribes that at one time or another resided in Minnesota .area. As I understand it, the Spirit lake Reservation aka Devils Lake was set up by the govt. for loyal Sisseton-Wahpetons. I realize that there were other tribes,ie the chippewa who were living in North Dakota before it was set up, and after wards. some of the people that settled at Devilslake -Now Spirit Lake- trace back to ancestors who were Sisseton-Wahpetons, Santee, etc. via marriage. Your chief Waanatan was considered to have been a Yankton(South Dakota Historical Collection Vol 2. History of th eSioux Indians).

The Spirit Lake rez was set up to confine the roaming bands. There were some loyal Dakota among them.
The rez has a group of former boarding school students who were sent here from the Turtle Mountain Ojibway.
Waanatan I (one) was a Pabaksa (cut head) Yanktonai. When he was assinated in 1840 his three sons (Red Thunder, Catfish, and Waanatan II) split into three bands. Waanatan II went with his mothers people the Sissetons and established his village at Lake Traverse. After the uprirising Red Thunder went to Standing Rock, Catfish went to Ft. Peck, and Waanatan II went here to Spirit Lake. So Waanatan I was an Ihankeotunwanna and his son was a Sisitunwan.
There were 15 families of Isanti (Bdewakantun and Wahpekute) here at Spirit Lake. one of them a nephew of Inkpaduta.
