Hi - New here.
Hello Hermin1. In your Jul 3, 2008, post you write that Hyppolite DUPUIS was born in 1807, in Canada. I happen to have his birth certificate. He was actually born in the parish of La Nativité de la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie, in the town of Laprairie, which is in the Province of Québec, in Canada. Not in 1807, but three years earlier, in 1804. A 4 can easily be mistaken for a 7.
So. First, the French text, as it appears in the parish register:
(s) J. B. Boucher ptre.»
And now, the English translation:
"B Hyppolite Dupuy - In the year Eighteen Hundred and Four, the sixteenth of October, by us undersigned priest was baptized a boy named Hyppolite born on this day of the legitimate marriage of Michel Dupuy, laborer, and of Marie Louise Denaut his wife residing in this parish The godfather was Jeremie Brosseau and the godmother Marie Claire Dupuy wife of the said Jeremie Brosseau who with the father who was present have declared being unable to sign when asked to do so after our reading of this said act. (sgn) J. B. Boucher priest."
Laprairie is on the south shore of the St. Lawrence river, opposite from Montreal, where, some years back, I also had the thrill of locating the most likely branch of the Rainville family to be related to Joseph Renville, (Pierre Joseph Rainville and Marie Angélique Bétourné).
If you need more info, don't hesitate to ask.

dear renville: thanks so much for the information. I will correct my records. Incidentlaly, if you type in Metis Cemetery, North Dakota and check ou t the names of the people buried there, you will find Joseph Rainville buried in that cemetery. Welcome, welcome, to our website, you are a site for sore eyes. Please, do you have any information on who was the spouse(his name) of Old Eve(motherof Cloudman and his brothers)? the information I have found only says she was the spouse of Mary Renville's brother, others say he was Joseph Renville's brother-in-law. Please come back and visit, and if you have any information on any of the trees posted, please don't hesitate to post your information.
