Dear all:
Greetings.
The Court issued an order today regarding Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Commmunity's agents obtaining access to court files containing identity of anonymous plaintiffs represented by attorney Elizabeth Walker. This Group is called the "Anonymous Walker Group" in the opinion.
The Court granted the motion in part and denied it in part.
Importantly, the Court took the threat of SMSC retaliation against participants in the lawsuit seriously enough to require that SMSC attorney Brian B. O'Neill secure the disclosed information -- including a thumb drive, any printed materials, hard drives, back-up tapes, etc. -- until November 26, 2028. That's 20 years.
