Hermin, Did anyone ever find out who Prost Armil is? The father of Waspimaniwin's daughter Sarah Smith? I have been searching but finding nothing and wondering if the spelling is right so am spelling it differently and still coming up with nothing. Thanks. Wanbliho

Hermin, Did anyone ever find out who Prost Armil is? The father of Waspimaniwin's daughter Sarah Smith? I have been searching but finding nothing and wondering if the spelling is right so am spelling it differently and still coming up with nothing. Thanks. Wanbliho Wanbliho: I will check my notes from Wospimaniwin's probate and see if I can come up with something. At first glance it looks like the spelling of that name may be wrong. __________ Update: Wanblihu did you checkout Ancestry.com on her? I checked my notes from Wospimaniwin's probate.Husband is listed as Anpetuduta.(Red Day). This is according to the testimony at the Probate hearing. Wospimaniwin and her hubby had 2 children: a son(n/a) died before 1862, and a daughter(n/a) who died after 1862.the probate hearing was held in1913 at Santee. Sarah was born@ 1864 and died in1941,according to dates on her headstone at Hobu Creek Cem.,Knox,NE. So they couldn't have been Sarah's parents. The 1902 Santee Census lists Sarah Winona(Smith) Hemans's parents as Unknown and Wospimaniwin. Sarah's first hubby was John Smith/ Tunkancanhdeska. whom she wed Feb. 11, 1880 at Santee(Santee Marr. Register). He died in1897. They had three kids: James who married Cora Red owl. James died in1910.then Della/Delia who married Henry Tuttle, and finally, Mary Smith, who was born @1898. Sarah next married Felix Hemans at Santee. They did have a daughter Elizabeth born @1910.(ancestry Apr. 1, 1934 Santee Census). Darn I don't remember where I got the names F. Emelle and Eary Emelle as her parents,. this is one of those times I forgot to cite the reference. i am so sorry. I did remember to copy the nfo fromthe 1902 Census on her card, though. I don't know what to tell you to do about listing who her parents were.

Wanbliho: I found the reference for the names of Sarah smith's parents it was Sarah 's and Felix Hemans's marriage Certificate. i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt240/kouklamu/SarahsmithandFelixhemansmarriageCer.jpgNow this raises a puzzle: whowere her parents? those listed on the 1902 Santee Reg. of Indian Families, or those listed on her marriage Certficate. I couldn't find the marriage record in any of the Santee Registers, because they were married by a County Judge in Knox county,NE. the certificate was attached to John smith's Probate record.
