Members and visitors,
We are still having trouble with links to images going bad. Here is the problem- the quick image loader on the site is offered through imageshack. They delete any images which are not VIEWED in a year's time. If you want to post an image and don't care if it "goes away" in a year, this is a simple way to post photos and documents. However, if you are posting items which you hope will stay on the site longer, you might want to open a free account at photobucket.com. I did a "help" search on their site and found the following-
Are Free accounts ever deleted?
Free accounts are deactivated after one (1) year of inactivity (i.e., you do not log into your account for 365 days). When a free account is deactivated, the media is removed, but not deleted. Two weeks before an account is deactivated, Photobucket sends an email to the email address on record to notify the account owner.
There is a grace period of three (3) months after your account is deactivated, where you can upgrade to Pro and Photobucket will restore your media.
So, if you don't log into your account for over a year, the whole account will be deleted. I have had my free photobucket account for 3 years and have never once had an image deleted. As long as you log on to your account at least once a year, you won't have any trouble.

From the photobucket help files-
"You must log into your account at least once every three months to ensure media you link to other websites stays active. See Why were my linked images deactivated for details. You must log into your account at least once every 365 days, or your account will be deactivated. See Why was my account deactivated for details. "
When using the free account, you will lose your images only if you fail to log in every 3 months. (YOU are in control with photobucket). You will lose your entire account only if you fail to log in every 365 days.
