This Conference is a kind of trial run here at the Sisseton Wahepton Reservation . Agency Village is about 6 miles south of Sisseton SD. I hope to hold a few more before next summer.
I am requesting copies of any Census/ Annuit records that you would like to donate.
Its ok to send Census and Annuities etc that I may allready have because I need as many copies as possible. Also looking for prsons who would have allot of records on their laptop or on CD's that would be kind enough to sit at a table all day and do look ups.
If you do not have records on laptop or CD's but have allot of hard copies/paper and you are willing to sit at a table all day that would be great as well.
My plan is to have several tables setup, being manned by knowledgable Dakota Genealogists who will do lookups.
So maybe one table would be Sisseton records, another Flandreau, another Santee, another Crow Creek etc etc.
Again this is a trial run and we will be learning how much is needed by descendants Especially those who do not have computers or who have computers but do not know where to search. Unfortuntely the Community Center does not have internet. But it is a wonderful place for meetings/gatherings.
This is on a low buget/(mine so far) So there is no money to pay anyones gas or hotels. I am asking people bring a dish or beverage to share.
This is a good thing, we will have fun and everyone me included will learn something new!!!
Thank-you ahead of time for any help you can give.
