I have been looking for a picture of Helen and her family and I found it. I don't know how to upload, but, the information that Aunt Genevieve Redwing gave me regarding the family group is as follows. Husband Solomon Hopkins, Helen S. Hopkins and their daughter Harriet Hopkins who died as a child. Mother of Helen - Emma Chapman Stone and Ester Harlan. Solomon and Helen adopted Esther a dau of Joshua Harlan and she grew up to marry Chris Whipple. This picture will be going with the Santee Quilt collection to the NE historical society. Wanbliho

Wanbliho here is what I found for you on Helen's history: She was born 1888. Parents were Daniel Smith/Mazakahomni and Emma Chapman(d/o Bushman chapman and Makatokanwin). Her mother later remarried to Daniel Stone/Stoneboy, son of Julia Stone-John's brother(dec'd).
Daniel Smith's parents were Amos Smith and Hanyetuhomnimniwin(d/o Ptesanwin and Tawotaheduta), who was still married to ?Paypay( ref. ptesanwin heirship Report), when Daniel was born. Solomon Hopkins, husband of Helen, was the son of Rosalie Winona and Henry(Wanna) Hopkins. Henry's parents were anpeturota and Unknown woman. Anpeturota's parents were HapanCatka(left hand) and Nonpakinyan(ref. Two Crow and John Stone heirship Reports.
Joshua Harlan was the son of Tonwanjidan and Mahpiyatowin. He was married to Ellen (Stone)Paypay and they had two daughters Esther born 1907 and Adel(ia?)born @ 1905. Ellen and Amos Paypay/Grant's son Levi Trudell( Ellen had first given him to ? Trudell and his wife to raise, after she and Amos Paypay/Grant divorced) was also living with Ellen and Joshua. I don't know what happened to Esther's sister. Hope this helps you.

Hermin, It helps a lot. Thank you so much. At least now we all know who the other people are in the photo and makes it all a lot clearer. Wanbliho Wanbliho, Solomon and Helen were wed on Nov. 10,1910 at Pleasant Grove,Roberts,SD.Ref. South Dak. marriages 1905 - 1949, by Rev. Pridville,Justice. Julia Stone-John's parents were Nancy Kahdawin Stone and Tatehdinajin , both dead. I don't remember her brother's name,or his wife's name, but he also had a daughter who died young. checkthe 1902 Santee Reg. of Santee Ind. Fams. Mike may have it in Census records of our website. it should have Daniel Stone/Stoneboy and his fam. plus who his parents were listed. it is always a pleasure to help you.
