Rev. William O. Rogers (Owancamaza) was licensed in June 1871 and ordained October, 1871 by Dakota Presbytery. He was S.S. at Flandreau 1871-'76; joined the Episcopal Church in 1877 and returned in 1883; S.S. and P. of of Wood Lake church 1883-'90. Mr W. O. Rogers was born at West St. Paul, Minn. in 1837, the son of Piyaduta and Anna Hapstin, remained a heathen until he was imprisoned with other Sioux in 1862. He was converted in prison and trained for four years under Dr. Williamson with many other prisoners.
