Yupper, read the thread hermin1! We got it covered! Tony, i believe you also descend from the Chief Husasa through Garwin/ Thomas/ Rose Whipple. That's a pretty cool family tree you've got there! :-) __________________________ Husasa(Red legs) was the son of Tasagye, brother of Wambdisapa(father of Inkpeduta). Thomas(aka Tasagye or Wakanna) was Husasa's son or nephew. The baptismal record has his father as Wamnbdiwiyakapi(versus 1902 Reg.)and Tatiyopa(Anna Ross)the 1902 Reg. of Santee Ind fam. lists his mother as Kaptowin. Anna's grandfather was Wapahasha III, andher uncle was chief Wakute.

Bluestone, Rose Whipple, Interview, 1976 A Dakota Indian born at Prairie Island and raised in Santee, Nebraska, recalls her childhood and her education at boarding schools for Indians. She discusses the Dakota War of 1862 and Christianity, particularly her Episcopal upbringing. 60 minutes; 18-page transcript......................... just curious on who this is because my grandmother paulines mother rose whipple died in 1969 or early 1970. And if this Rose whipple gave and interview in 76 about the 1862 uprising she would have be well over a hundred yrs old _________ Not necessarily. If this is the Rosa Mae Whipple giving the interview, it would make sense, as she was raised in Santee. she lived with her grandma Maggie Whipple, for how long,I don't know.(Ref. 1920 uS Census Hill,Knox,NE).she would have been talking about what her ancestors told her about the uprising.

I'm sorry I think I mistyped about Thomas. The baptismal ledger says his parents were Wamdiwanyakapi and Tatiyopa. I know Garwin had a son named Thomas, but it was a different Thomas. My bad! :-(

Tokanuwan: Sad to say there is no information available on Watokoyamani. Are you referring to the 1875 Minnesota State Census? and are you referring to Jane Bluestone and her second spouse John B. chapman?
