sharon09 Hopefully, Jimmy at Oyate, can find the baptismal record you asked him to find on William Walker so we will know if he and sophia Lightning were full siblings or half siblings. _________________________----- I was unable to find his baptismal record in the Santee Mission Baptismal Register 184"-1904 or 06. Darn!!!. I can only conclude that if he was baptized at Santee before 1870,I don't think we will be able to find his record, because a tornado ripped thorugh Santee @ 1870 and destroyed the records and the mission. (Update: that is what is written in a biography about S.d. Hinman). In any case, we already know from Sophia's baptismal record that she and William were not full brother and sister. ____ correction: We know who her parents were. All I know for sure is that William's father was Jacob Walker. on that copyof thefamilies at Santee. The date on the families listeed in the book 1 of the Santee Agency registers is the 1885 SanteeCensus. if my hunch isright, I believe you may be trying to make a connectionof Sophia lightning being the wife of Joseph Moose and later thomas Walker. What you need is amarrriage record for sophia and Joseph Moose. I don't know where or if you will be able to findit,. If they married by Ind. Custom, the only record of it will be in her probate/Heirship papers ,and in Joseph Moose's heirship papers-that is-if hehad a land allotment in Minnesota or at Ssantee. based on Sophia's baptismal record, she was already Mrs. Joseph Moose. Sophia Moose died Oct. 29, 1921. _____________ Update: Jacob Walker aka Acaksin was married to a woman named Nagi on aug. 10, 1867. Ref.: Rev. J.P. Williamson Personal Memorandum. william, his son was in his teens in the 1880 Census for Maiden Rock,Pierce,Wis. , which would lead me to conclude that nagi may have been his mother, and not owaci. jacob married Sarah ? in 1880. We know he was also marrid at one time to Owaci and they had a daughter Louisa. In the 1878 Santee Census he is listed with a wife and 9 children. However, this census only gives the nameof the head s of households and the nos of children and women. I

Hello Hermin11 I have the copy of Delima Lacroix's marriage license from Biddeford, Maine. I just this week have obtained information on her death. Two pieces of information. They are conflicting dates. One says they found she had services for her in Notre-Dame le Montreal and that she died May 18,1910 and buried there on the 20th of May in the Cote-des-Neiges cemetery. The next person said that De Lima and Theophile were living in the Montreal's Ste-Brigides Parish. (According to the records of Notre Dame Montreal, Rose De Lima Lacroix wife of Theophile Jolin died May 26, 1910 and was buried in the parish cemetery on May 28th .....they resided in the Ste-Brigide parish in Montreal !!) source: Drouin films of actual registers... That's about it in a "nutshell" and that is all I know about Rose De Lima Lacroix/Jolin other than her father is Joseph and Mother was a Cahill/Caille. Thanks for your supports. genelady ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also for those on Oyate and Mdewakanton sites looking for Canadian ancestors may find this helpful.. as it was for me.:
(from an online friend who helped me) Your best bets (some basic French is helpful, but not totally necessary) BMS2000.org has compiled most/all of the published baptism/marriage/burial repertoires from the province of Québec. More marriages, fewer baptisms, and fewer still deaths, but totally helpful. The results are in a certificate-like format:
Ancestry.com has the Drouin Collection online, and it's searchable. These are the actually parish registers, in images, such as I sent you. This is where the French comes in handy, because 99.9% are in French. You can almost always find what you want, though some tweaks and tricks are often necessary as the people who indexed the images weren't necessarily good at reading text that's up to 350 years old (lol). This database will cover anything from the inception of a parish, up to the 1940's in most cases, and '60's in other areas.

genenlady: I do not recall you sending me any of these images from the Druin collection.i amstillwaiting for a copy of the marriage record you say you have for Rose Delima laCroix. the snag with accessing the druin collection is that you have to have asubscription to ancestry.com that also allows you access to the Canadian records, which Idon't have.
thanks somuch for the informatin. those whocan access the Canadian records will welcome this reference.

Hi, I really need help locating any information on my g-g-great grandfather Brother of All DOB 1833-34. I located him on a census once but didn't bookmark it. Also I am searching for the census that states "Mdewakantons exiled". I have very limited resources to try to search and would appreciate any help. I don't know if there were any previous censuses before 1864 for Crow Creek. Thanks.
His wife was Holy Prairie. Where did they come from?

twiliyums: I do not know of that census you mentioned re. Mdewakantons Exiled. there are no censiuses for Crow creek, prior to 1864.The 1864 Census for Crow Creek is so damaged, thatonly 4pages have survived,at national Archives.and even thise pages are in terrible shape. You are in luck. Here's what www.familysearch.org has on him: Brother of All born:1834 North Dakota spouse: Holy prairie born 1839 SD son:governon Brother of All b.1881 Ft. Thompson,SD son;Thomas Snow Drift Brother of All b.1876 Ft. Thompson,SD Spouse: Annie or Anna Holy Striker b. 1878 Ft. thompson children: Cecelia Joseph Mathew Eugene Amelia Mathew was divorced and in 1920 Census for Chs Mix,SD, was living with his uncle Charles iron hawk and spouse Hattie Iron hawk.eugene was also living with them. Hope this helps.

Thank you for searching that. Have you seen him on any lists elsewhere. My foggy memory recalls that he was part of Wakutes band. But, I've done some searching here and on the other site but haven't spotted him on any of Wakutes band list. I don't think I'm searching right. How about Julia Sky? Her daughter is Eliza Lovejoy, married to Asa another ancestor. Is Julia from MN? I'd really appreciate any help here.

Julia Sky/siutina was the daughter of Chief Wakute(Redwing) and Zitkadansakoyakewin. Yes she was the mother of Eliza Tasinagiwin, and Mahpiyawastewin.Brother of All does not appear on any of the pre-1864 censuses for Wakute's band, in Minnesota.Julia is from Minnesota.Contact the Aberdeen Regional office for BIA to get your Heirship card. Write to them,do not call them.
